What is a Learning Expedition?
Within all schools, there is so much vital curriculum content to get through and essential skills to learn to ensure our students are exam ready. Space within the crowded curriculum to create more imaginative, cross-curricular opportunities for exciting project work is at a premium. Often schools can seem wholly focused on the end game of examinations, that we forget that the work we can do with students of all ages and abilities can be quite remarkable. The phrase "work that matters" is, or should be an integral part of thinking about how we design learning which truly engages students. Creating opportunities for students to be involved in real, authentic learning experiences, which can have a truly positive impact on their local community and beyond, solving real world problems, but also involves the rigour of the curriculum content are all key aspects of a learning expedition. This is Les Quennnevais school's first foray into this way of learning. We hope over the coming years, to develop many more memorable, meaningful and inspiring learning expeditions to inspire our students and ensure our community knows what remarkable young people we have working and learning amoung us.
